IPOH: Motorists are stuck in a massive traffic jam on both sides of the North-South Expressway near Gua Tempurung, Perak, after a bus went out of control and landed in a ditch at about 6pm on Saturday.
Three students were seriously injured and have been rushed to Hospital Raja Perempuan Bainun, here.
Ipoh Fire and Rescue Services chief Mohd Aminuddin Abdul Rahim said that it was raining heavily at 304.5km when the southbound bus tried to overtake a school bus.
It is believed that the brakes failed to work and the driver lost control of the bus. The bus landed on its side in a deep ditch.
There were 41 passengers – 22 students, 14 lecturers and their families and five drivers - from Institute Kemahiran Mara Melaka who were on their way back from a reunion in Cameron Highlands.
The passengers and drivers crawled out of the bus and called for help.
Mohd Aminuddin said that a distress call came in at 6.19pm and three fire engines with 13 personnel from Ipoh, Setapak and Gopeng rushed to the scene.
He said the students were aged between 19 and 21 years old.
